Sun Life Band (nay Stanshawe)

You may be wondering why so many images on this site of a band in action.

This is, or was, the Sun Life Band of Bristol, UK, formerly the Stanshawe Band.
All these shots feature a certain Eb bumbly player in the bass tuba section. The link above-right takes you to the band’s historical website, but if you would like to hear what they sounded like then

Sure I played with City of Coventry, Coventry Imperial, Coventry Festival, and Airdrie Old Union, but SLB was my spiritual home so to speak. I have also been a free-lance tuba player with a number of orchestras around the country.
I do not profess to be a writer of any great shakes, but I have written a few articles for brass interest websites over the years.

Some guidance on transcribing orchestral works for brass band.
